FAQs
What are the advantages of having an in-home pet exam on top of the exam at the primary clinic?
Some issues are best assessed while your pet is at home and less stressed. I can pick up on important behaviors and pain that they don’t display while at the clinic and certain diagnostics such as blood pressure measurements are more accurate. Also, my in-home pet exam establishes a VCPR (veterinary/patient/client relationship) which then allows me to diagnose and treat conditions that can be evaluated via Telemedicine so that your pet does not need to always travel into the clinic. My 60-minute house-calls allow for time to build trust with your pet and for a thorough assessment which often cannot be achieved at the primary clinic.
Why do I need to maintain a relationship with a primary care clinic?
My services are focused on comprehensive preventative care, care management of chronic diseases, advice through life stages, and behavioral assessments. Your primary care clinic is still the best option for urgent care, diagnostics, procedures, and treatments because they have a full staff and the necessary equipment and medications available. The best way to assure a timely appointment with them for urgent matters is to maintain a relationship with an annual exam and recommended vaccinations.
Can you prescribe my pet’s medications?
Yes, I work with online pharmacies and can prescribe medications if I have direct involvement in the management of the case.
Do you offer in-home euthanasia?
At this time, I refer in-home euthanasias to a recommended veterinarian who specializes in providing this service. However, I will be with you every step of the way in deciding when the best time is to make this very difficult decision.
