Struggling with Chronic Disease

Managing chronic diseases in our pets brings out many emotions such as frustration, annoyance, irritation, stress and anxiety and yet I do not feel that many of us have a healthy support system to deal with these emotions.  We can even feel anger when the symptoms flare up once again, especially when life is already throwing other challenges at us, and then we can feel guilt for our reaction.  How do we maintain a healthy relationship with our pet during these times of negative emotions?  I feel that part of Connected Veterinary Care is providing “attuned” veterinary care.  This means that although I may not be able to provide a cure for you pet’s disease, as Sarah Schlote defines attunement, I can provide you “the sense of being seeing, being heard, feeling felt, and getting gotten” when it comes to managing your pet’s care. I believe the feeling of connection and community will support you through these negative emotions and improve you and your pet’s well-being.
